Information

This describes (1) icons used in the text, (2) how to print the document, and (3) how to ``navigate'' when reading on-line. If you have questions or difficulties, please contact us at <l-c-admin@language-culture.org>.

Images & Video

The camera icon indicates a hypertextual (still) image, while the film icon indicates video segments. Video segments are QT (Cinepack Quicktime) and MPEG. QT includes audio, and MPEG does not.

Most graphical browsers can view the images ``natively'', but many will require additional ``add-on'' applications to view the video formats.

Printing

Your browser can print this document directly to your printer. Simply download the document and then hit your browser's ``print'' button.

Navigation

For simple reading of the document, click on the ``next'' arrow [Next Button
Example] when you are ready to move to the next section, much like turning the page at the end of one chapter to the beginning of another chapter in a book. Other buttons are intuitive, jumping you backwards, up and down, and to the document root (``home'').

Try following the buttons to get a feel for ``hypertext navigating''. All of the buttons will bounce you around in this document, except the ``document home'' button, which will bounce you back to the symposium paper. Once you get the hang of it, you'll be able to negotiate the document more accurately than with a printed copy in your hand.
